G'Day Mate!

This week at school, we learned about the Great Barrier Reef. It is the largest reef in the world. The GBR is larger than Italy! People can swim in the GBR and sharks don't eat them! There are a lot of sharks in the GBR. There are a lot of colors in the Great Barrier Reef.

In Australia, aboriginals created dot art on cave walls. Now they create the art on paper and on didgeridoos. We made our own dot art portraits and used nature colors. Lexi created the Great Barrier Reef using Q-Tips to make the dots. Dwayne made the Australian flag and Irelle made a dingo.

We learned slang words that people in Australia use. The class laughed when we learned that "dunny" meant "toilet".  The word "cactus" meant "broken" and "ripper" meant "fantastic.

We had a ripper week at school!

      Hoo Roo!
