This week, we learned about Mummification in Ancient Egypt. Jacob.H learned that the brain was pulled out of the nose with a hook. Johann learned that the heart was left inside the body. David learned about canopic jars. The were 4 jars and organs were placed in the jars. One jar had the head of a human, one had a head of a jackal, the third had a head of a falcon and the last one had a head of a baboon. Myles learned that Anubis was the god of mummification. Brandi learned that Egyptians mummified cats. Jasmyn learned that linen was wrapped around the body to make a mummy. Nate learned that an amulet was used to cover the spot where the body was cut open. Finally, Maggie learned that King Tut's gold was never stolen.

Today, we mummified our stuffed animals. We used paper mache made from newspaper, flour, salt and water. Daniel thought it was DIRTY! Nate thought it was AWSESOME! Isaiah thought it was FUN! Myles thought it was EPIC! Jasmyn thought it was SUPER FUN! David was pretending to be Captain Sticky. Brandi accidentally flung goop on Mrs. Pilat! Jacob H had goop in his HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David and Alex gave a performance to the class about a bird called "Gilbert The Birdy" that ate everyone he saw. It was very comical.
