An Incredible Week

   This week at school was SCAREY! We read the book "Scaredy Squirrel" by Melanie Watt. We created a character map about Scaredy Squirrel and then took the information and wrote a profile about him. Then we did the same for ourselves. Gerri said she is scared of heights. Nate is scared of spiders. Angel told us that she is SCARED of cats. Brandi is having a panic attack right now as she LOVES cats! Alex told us that he is AFRAID of sharks and living pancakes. Isaiah shared that he is afraid of foxes and wolves. Mrs. Pilat is no longer talking to Isaiah as she ADORES wolves! Mitchel is creeped out about everything being made in China.

   We also learned about Odd and Even numbers. We read the book "Even Steven and Odd Todd".

Brandi knows that 4 is even. Alexis knows that 5 is an odd number. David knows that 1655000 is even. Afterwards, we played a game that we call "Swat the Even or Odd". Mrs. Pilat would tell us a number and we would have to decide if it was even or odd and swat it with a fly swatter. Team #2 won today. Mitchel thought the game was good. Nate thought the game was intense and Finlay liked that there was team 1 versus team 2.

   
   Mrs. Alexander came to visit us and teach us about the Ojibway Peoples. She brought a jingle dress that was used in powwows, a drum to wake up people, instruments and a seashell. David said the seashell sounded like someone was saying "Hi". She showed us a rock that symbolizes grandfather. Mrs. Alexander played the drum that symbolized the medicine wheel. The drum was made out of elk. We danced to the drum. We also played a game like musical chairs. Mrs. Alexander would call out a number and we had to form a group with the number she gave us. Nate and Finlay won.

  It was an AWESOME week at school!!!
